Rules of the Emil Zátopek Ostrava Golden Marathon

General

  • Only registered runners can participate in the race.
  • Participants under 18 must have written consent from their legal guardian to run in the race for adults.
  • Each participant declares to be taking part in the race of their own will and at their own risk (with all the consequences resulting from it), they are medically fit and able to take part in the race without difficulty.
  • The organiser is not responsible for injuries, damage to property or any other harm incurred from participating in the race or watching it.
  • We ask all the participants to be respectful to the environment, not to throw away garbage, to move only in predefined areas and to follow the organiser’s instructions.
  • Each participant is obliged to read and follow information and instructions which will be published prior to the race on the website www.emilzatopekmarathon.com.
  • Participant agrees to follow athletic’s rules and the plan of the race. If they break these rules and/or the plan they can be disqualified from the race.
  • The organiser reserves the right to cancel the race in case of extraordinary unforeseeable events, natural disaster, or completely unsuitable weather conditions. In these cases, the organiser is not obliged to refund the entry fee.
  • The Organiser reserves the right to make changes to the programme, plan, or these rules and conditions without prior notice.

Registration

  • Registration takes place on the website www.emilzatopekmarathon.com by filling in and sending the online registration form.
  • Registration is also possible in person at the presentation.
  • Participants of children’s races also have to be registered due to capacity, results management, photos and commemorative diplomas.
  • Registration is only valid after payment. Payment is understood as crediting the full amount to the account of the organiser.
  • Registration that is not paid within 5 days is automatically cancelled.
  • The registration fee (entry fee) confirmed by the participant is non-refundable.
  • Changes in the registration are possible only via email: info@zatopekmaraton.cz. These changes are free of charge.

Presentation (Number pick-up)

  • Every registered competitor is obliged to present themselves at the race on the day, time and place specified by the organizer.
  • Presentation is possible in person with a valid ID or by another person on the basis of a power of attorney. The power of attorney must include the name, surname, date of birth, route and identification data of the authorized representative who must present their ID during the presentation.
  • Presentation for the relay and teams requires at least one member of the team.
  • Presentation for children’s runners requires the presence of a legal guardian. The only exception is for registered athletic club (ČAS) competitors, where the presence of a club representative is sufficient. The legal representative or club representative confirms the minor’s participation with their signature.
  • The runner will receive a start package at the presentation.
  • Unclaimed start packages cannot be picked up later or claimed in any other way.
  • The organizer does not guarantee the size of the ordered T-shirt.

Race

General

  • Race with a mass start will be under WA rules.
  • Start numbers with the embedded electronic timing chip must be placed in the prescribed manner, i.e. on the chest, securely and visibly. Do not peel off, bend, or otherwise damage the chip.
  • The start number is not transferable to another person. Violation leads to disqualification.
  • It is strictly forbidden to use roller skates, bicycles, trekking poles or other means of transport along the entire race route.
  • It is forbidden to take short-cuts or block the race route in any way.
  • For safety reasons, animals are not allowed in the start and finish areas.
  • Refreshments for runners will be available during the race and at the finish.
  • The first three runners in all categories will receive a prize. Unclaimed prizes cannot be claimed later.
  • Participants can claim the result of the race within 48 hours of the race at the organizer’s email address info@zatopekmaraton.cz.

Marathon Relay

  • Race with a mass start of the first section.
  • The relay race is run by 8 runners (men, women, mix). Each runner completes their designated section of the marathon route individually.
  • Runners in their relay team pass the baton which includes an electronic timing chip.
  • The handoff will take place in the handoff area designated by the organiser.

Family runs

  • The race takes place on the oval outside the stadium. Starts are divided into individual runs.

Raffle

  • Prizes will be divided into three groups – A, B, C.
  • Raffle A will include only the starting numbers of runners who completed the marathon or half marathon within the time limit. The raffle will be drawn after the last marathon runner finishes. The prize will be handed over right away to the runner who must show their ID. If the winner is not present, another winner will be drawn.
  • Raffle B will include the starting numbers of all runners who completed any route, but the number of the relay team will be entered only once. The raffle will be drawn after the last marathon runner finishes. The prize will be handed over right away to the winner with the starting number.
  • Raffle C will include all duly registered and starting numbers which were paid until 20.9.2024. Due to time constraints, the raffle will be drawn in advance. The list will be on the website and prizes will be available for collection at the race presentation. There is not later claim on prizes not collected when the presentation is open.
  • These rules mean that a marathon runner who finishes their route within the time limit may win up to three prizes.
